Deciding to join a sorority is the first step, then from there, you have to go through the recruitment process and participate in rush. This can be an incredibly exciting time in yours and the sorority's life, so enjoy it as much as you can. However, realize that there is still more to come.
Once the recruitment process is over, things don't stop there. Now, you have to find a sorority Big or Little. But what is a Big? She's an established sorority sister who is going to take you under her wing and show you the ropes.
The Big/Little relationship is sacred and can teach you a lot about the sorority, college living and life in general. Finding the perfect partner shouldn't be taken lightly.

You're either one of two types of girls: 1. you may have already found your "rush crush" or known a girl prior to them joining your house. For you, the choice is easy. Or 2. you never found a rush crush. More than likely, you're freaking out that you won't find the perfect girl!
Don't fret ladies! There are plenty of options for Bigs and Littles. I promise you that you'll find someone that can be your Big/Little sorority partner in crime, confidante and bestie.
Tip #1: Find a Sorority Big/Little You Can Depend On
When it comes to your Greek Big/Little, you want to find a sister who you know will be there for you in good times and bad. The one who will go with you to get ice cream at midnight and stay in with you to watch Netflix instead of going out. In fact, she should be down for anything! Get someone you can depend on. Every girl wants to find a Big/Little that they can count on and look up to.
Tip #2: Find a Big/Little Perfect Match
I know: it sounds like dating, right? In all honestly, it might not be a bad idea to consider some Big/Little date ideas for your sorority. It'll help you find your perfect match.
Your Big/Little should be someone that you have lots in common with. You should also be willing to share things so that you can learn from each other. For example, Bigs can teach Littles the ways of college and sorority life - how to balance time, what food is good on campus, what teachers are the best, etc. Littles can teach Bigs new trends, what she likes, etc. Find someone that you can have a lot of fun with, too (duh).
Tip #3: Make Sure Your Little Fits In With The Fam
Obviously, the prospective Little should love the family they would be joining. As a Big, you should be certain that your Little will fit in with the rest of the fam. When you are a Little, there will be lots of family gatherings, group texts, etc., so you want to make sure you love everyone involved!
TIP: If you want to get the most out of your Big and Little sorority hunt, get to know all the girls instead of picking out just one. The new pledge class will get really excited that an older girl sincerely wants to get to know each one of them. Who knows? You may find another Little and want to take them both as twins!
This can be an expensive undertaking (Big/Little baskets and gifts, anyone?), but well worth it when you find two girls that you love. It makes your family expand more than you had expected, which is so fun!
Truth is, you will find the perfect sorority Big/Little for you, it may just take some time. Bigs, teach your new Little the ways of college; balancing school, social life and everything else in between. And shower her with gifts (duh). Littles, learn from your new sisters and embrace the sorority life!
