The sorority was founded on the campus of the University at Albany in 1994. Today, it’s got 33 chapters and is an active part of the National APIA Panhellenic Association. The sorority is a cultural, social, and educational sorority dedicated to promoting Greek life and supporting its sisters. The History of Sigma Psi Zeta

In 1933, a group of friends, all of whom were female undergraduates, gathered together to form a sorority. The mission of the sorority was originally to address the difficulties and challenges Asian women were facing on the campus of SUNY Albany, and to provide a platform for sisterhood and community to all members.

Today, Sigma Psi Zeta supports philanthropies that battle violence against women, and works to focus specifically on violence against women in Asian communities and household. It has supported events like Take Back the Night and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
